Lucy's Variety and Gifts - 1988

Lucile Schmoker purchased the Tip Top
Variety store from John and Lucy Isom in
March of 1978. Most people referred to the
store as "Lucy's" and my nick name was
Lucy, I decided to call the store Lucy's.

John and Lucy had earlier purchased the
business from Nellie Johnson and Mary
Guggleman. It was then located in the
building which Peg's Beauty Shop is at
present. They moved the business to the
present location in 1968. The building was
built in 1960 by Albert Starr to house the
Gamble Store business.

The store has added several new depart-
ments and serve the Mullen area as well as
the surrounding area, Hyannis and Thedford
included.

This past March 1988, the store celebrated
the 10th anniversary with an Open House.
