James Leroy Anders was born in Cherry
County Ne. Oct. 6, 1918 to James Lennie and
Rachel Weatherston Anders.
Catherine Elizabeth (Beth) Simonson is
the daughter of Carl and June Kemp Simon-
son and was born April 8, 1921 in Hooker
County on her Fathers Homestead 5 miles
northwest of Mullen.
Leroy and Beth were married Jan. 27, 1940.
They lived on the Anders ranch 25 miles
northeast of Mullen until Leroys death Sept.
10, 1973. They maintained a home in Mullen
during the school terms for 9 years from 1959
to 1968.
Their children are Richard Leroy, born
Date-xxx, he attended country schools in
Cherry County and his 4 years of High School
at Curtis Nebraska School of Agriculture. He
graduated from the University of Nebr. at
Lincoln. Richard married Nancy Eriksen
July 14, 1963, she is the daughter of Leonard
and Virginia Hodges Eriksen. Their children
are Kirk, Kristen and Gretchen. They live in
Bellevue Washington and own and operate
several Hallmark stores in Montana, Idaho
and Seattle area.
Charles Glen, born Date-xxx, he
attended country schools in Cherry County
and his 4 years of High School in Mullen. He
spent 3 years in the Army with one year in
Vietnam. Charles married Catherine Brown-
ell June 1, 1968, she is the daughter of Blair
And Alice Brownell of Comerce City Colo-
rado. They now live on the Anders ranch.
Their children are Jennifer, Julie, James
Lennie and Andrew. The children attend the
Mullen schools.
Cheryl Sue, born Date-xxx. She attend-
ed country schools until they moved to
Mullen in 1959 for school. After graduating
from Mullen High School she attended
Beauty School in North Platte and worked
in North Platte and in Mullen. Cheryl
married James O'Brien Dec. 28, 1969. They
now live on the O'Brien-Long ranch south-
west of Mullen. Their children are Mary Jo,
Christopher and Anita.
Gary Joe, born Date-xxx. He attended
country school in Cherry County until 1959,
he graduated from Mullen High School,
Chadron State College and 2 years at the
University of Omaha. He married Becky
Garrett August 16, 1970. She is the daughter
of Eugene and Joan Garrett of Mullen. Their
children are David and Trisha. They now live
in Beatrice Nebraska where Gary is the
Director of the Therapy Department at the
Beatrice State Developmental Center.
In April 1974 Beth moved to Mullen and
built a home there. On Feb. 24, 1979 Beth
married Frank Harding and they lived on his
ranch 3 miles west of Mullen until 1985 when
they retired and moved to Mullen.
