Jim, Lillie, and Layne Fackler
Lillie Marie Elliott was born
1949 at Alliance, Nebraska. She is the fourth
child of Almond Dean and Mary Alice
(Cleavenger) Elliott of Mullen. James Roy
was born 1950 at Valentine, Nebras-
ka. Jim is the first child of Roy Orin and Myra
Elizabeth (Prentice) Fackler.
Lillie attended school in Mullen and
graduated from Mullen High School in May
1968. Following graduation she attended
Central Business College in Denver, Colorado
and received her secretarial degree in June
1969. Lillie worked for National Cooperative
Refinery Association of Denver, then for
Northland Life Insurance Company of En-
glewood at the position of Assistant Treasur-
er.
April 24, 1971, Jim and Lillie were married
at St. Joseph's Episcopal Church at Mullen,
Nebraska. In the spring of 1972, Jim and
Lillie moved back to Nebraska. Jim was
raised on his family's ranch north of Thed-
ford and school there until 1963 when his
parents established a second home in Mullen
to send their five children to High School.
Jim graduated from Mullen High School in
1968.
Following graduation, Jim enlisted in the
United States Army and served his country
from October 1968 until his honorable dis-
charge, at the rank of Spec. 4, on August 28,
1970 at Fort Carson, Colorado. While in the
Army Jim served in Vietnam from February
1969 to March 1970. Following his discharge,
Jim attended Denver Automotive and Diesel
College in Denver and graduated in August
1971.
After returning to Nebraska, the Facklers
lived on the Fackler ranch north of Thedford,
they then moved to Mullen to work, then to
North Platte, before returning to Mullen in
September 1976, when they purchased the
Mullen Beer Parlor from Vern and Emmeline
buchanan. While in North Platte, Lillie
worked for the Telegraph Bulletin in the
composing department and Jim drove a gas
transport. At the present time, Jim and Lillie
are running their business under the name of
Big Lil's Bar, Inc.
Jim and Lillie are the proud parents of one
daughter, Layne Renae, born 1981 at
Valentine, Nebraska. Layne attends Mullen
Grade School and is in the first grade.
Jim's outside activities include being a
member of both the Mullen Legion and
V.F.W. Posts. He is currently serving as
Commander of the Legion and Adjutant of
the V.F.W. Jim drives a school bus route
during the school months. He is on a bowling
league and is a member of the Mullen Golf
Club and holds the office of Vice-President.
Lillie's activities include being a member of
the Mullen Legion Auxiliary, St. Joseph's
Altar Guild, and the Mullen Golf Club. Lillie
also enjoys bowling during the winter
months.
