FISHER, HIRAM AND ALIDA (DENSON)

Hiram (Hi) and Alida Fisher, 1978.


Hiram (Hi) Fisher was born Sept. 27, 1908,
in Gallaway, Nebr., son of Burley and
Cynthia Fisher. He came with his family, in
a covered wagon, to his father's homestead in
McPherson Co., northwest of Tryon, Nebr.
They arrived in the spring of 1913 just before
the big blizzard. Hi grew up in McPherson &
Scottsbluff Counties of Nebr.

In 1927 he began working as a ranch hand
for Bert Gragg in southwest Hooker Co.
Nebr. He worked there a total of 13 yrs.

In 1934 he married Audrey McKillip. They
had 2 daughters, RiChardi born 1935
and Euardi born Oct. 9, 1939. They lived in
McPherson County most of the time after
1942. Audrey died Dec. 8, 1953 and is buried
in Sutherland, Nebr. Cemetery.

RiChardi graduated from Tryon High
School & taught school in North Platte, Nebr.
area. She married Wm (Bill) Rossman JUne
6, 1954. They moved to Mesa, Ariz. a few
years later. They had 2 daughters, Denyni
born 1959 & Denylle born
1963. Bill died July 7, 1968. RiChardi & girls
moved to Calif. in the Anaheim area & taught
school again for several years. She married
Frank Hagerman Oct. 18, 1982. Both girls are
married & live in the Anaheim area of Calif.
now in 1987.

Euardi Fisher, their second daughter,
married Robert Neal of Tryon Dec. 1954. One
daughter Rhonda. Later she married Wm.
Drake of Denver, Colo. & lived there where
Bill had a machine shop.

In 1971 Euardi died Dec. 3rd leaving 6
children & 3 step children. June 3, 1981 Bill
Drake died. They are both buried in Denver.

Euardi's children - Rhonda Drake, John
Drake, Becky Garcia & family, Jule Lauver
and family, Russell Drake & Kathy Coleman
all live in the Denver area.

On June 1, 1957 Hi married Alida (Denson
Adamson) in Torrington, Wyo, where Alida
was teaching.

Alida was born in Meadow Grove, in
Madison County, Nebr. Feb. 12, 1911 to Ben
& Maude (Howe) Denson. They came to their
homestead in Cherry County, Nebr. about 20
miles north of Mullen, Nebr., living in a sod
house. Alida & her brother, Richard, attend-
ed grade school at the Wells School. In 1927
the Denson family moved to Hooker County,
Nebr. & lived on the Zemke Place on the
Middle Loup River, 2 miles north of Mullen.
They ran a dairy & truck garden for five
years.

Alida attended high school in Mullen &
graduated in 1929, then started teaching in
rural schools in Hooker County. Her 45 years
of teaching & school career is in another
story.

On April 5, 1942 while teaching in Kimball
Co. Nebr. she & Loren Adamson of Bushnell,
Nebr. were married. Loren was a mail carrier.
They had one daughter, Shirley Ann, born
1943. Loren died Oct. 16, 1943 & is
buried in Kimball, Nebr. Alida continued to
teach elementary school in Kimball, then in
Torrington, Wyo. After she & Hi Fisher were
married they moved to the ranch near Tryon
where Hi lived.

Alida taught in Tryon & Shirley graduated
from Tryon High School in 1961, then
attended Methodist Nursing School in Roch-
ester, Minn. She became an R.N. in 1964 &
worked there.

Shirley Adamson & A. Michael Post of the
U.S. Navy were married May 15, 1966. They
were stationed in Japan 2 yrs. In 1969 they
were transferred to the Norfolk, Va. area
where they have lived ever since. They have
2 children, Robert born 1968 & Lisa
born 1971. Shirley still nurses in
hospital there & Mike is in Navy.

In 1961 Hi & Alida moved from Tryon to
a ranch & irrigated farm in western Nebr. in
Sioux County out of Mitchell, Nebr. They
raised cattle & alfalfa mostly. Alida contin-
ued to teach in Scottsbluff City Schools for
15 yrs., retiring in 1976. Hi retired in 1977

Hi & Alida continue to live on the same
place out of Mitchell.

They have enjoyed traveling to various
places such as Hawaii, Alaska, Canada,
Mexico and Bahamas, besides visiting many
places, friends & relatives in the United
States.

They enjoy their children, grandchildren
and great-grandchildren.
