Glen and Alice Gier.
In 1943, Jerry and Ruby Simpson moved
southeast of Mullen, having purchased the
Fred Meidell Ranch that he had home-
steaded. They raised their family, Benny and
Alice and lived on the ranch until they retired
and moved to Hyannis, Nebraska in 1961.
Benny moved to the Ben Wright Ranch south
of Hyannis that celebrated 100 years in the
same family in 1987. Ruby passed away in
1966. Jerry in 1985.
Dewey and Bea Gier lived on the Charlie
Meidell Ranch northeast of the Fred Meideil
place, where they raised their family, Everett,
J. D., Clifford, Glen, and La Vone. Dewey and
Bea moved to Anselmo, Nebraska in 1953.
Dewey passed away 1972. Bea resides in a rest
home at Grant, Nebraska. She is 90 years and
still crochets for all her family.
Alice Simpson and Glen Gier were married
in 1948 and moved on the Fred Meidell ranch
purchased by her parents, in 1943. Glen and
Alice still live on this ranch where they raised
two daughters, Beverly and Bonnie. They
also are still ranching in the cattle business,
and Glen does his art projects in the evenings
after outside chores. Beverly and her hus-
band, Kenny Uphoff and daughter, Kendra
ranch near Stapleton, Nebraska. Dean Rice,
grandson of Glen and Alice's is a freshman in
College at North Platte Mid-Plains, Nebras-
ka. Tim Rice lives with his grandparents and
is a freshman in Mullen High School. Bonnie
and her husband, Mike Strasburger and son,
Todd, ranch near Ellsworth, Nebraska.
Alice and Glen's Pine Tree Ranch now has
also a growing art business, with Glen's
bronze pieces.
