Nelsie Morrison was born in Omaha,
Nebraska in 1800 and when a few weeks old,
returned to Fort Laramie, Wyoming with her
mother Emma Morrison. The family resided
there while her father John Morrison ran the
Suttler Store. They remained there until
1882. The next move was to Cheyenne,
Wyoming. John Morrison and Collins ran a
very active Saddlery business. In 1890 they
moved back to Omaha where they had the
same firm under the name of Collins and
Morrison.
In 1900, Nelsie was married to Charles
"Tod" Gruenig. They had one child, a son,
Elmer Charles Gruenig, born in 1902.
In about 1906, John Morrison asked
Charles if he would be interested in coming
out to Mullen, Nebraska to run a bank that
was for sale at that time. John Morrison
bought the Bank of Mullen and Charles
moved his family out to Mullen. He ran the
bank with his brother W.W. Gruenig as
cashier.
Charles and Nelsie were very community
minded people and were active in church and
various organizations.
John Morrison died in 1918 and his wife
Emma, Charles, Nelsie and son Elmer Gruen-
ig all moved back to Omaha, Nebraska.
Nelsie Gruenig still owned the lumber yard
at the time of her Mother's death in 1933.
Nelsie and Elmer continued to own the
lumber yard for many years before it was
finally sold.
