The Walter Hardy family moved to the
Sandhills from Schuyler, Nebraska area
when the first three children, Fred, Will, and
Clark were small. Clint and Frank were born
near Gandy in the area known as the `Wild
Horse Flats'. Then the family came on and
settled two miles west of Seneca where Fern
was born in 1896. About 1900 they moved to
a place five miles southeast of Mullen, where
Warren now live. Here is where they were
living when Bert was born in 1902 and Ernest
in 1906. In 1909, Walter built the cement
block house to replace the sod. Ruby was born
in the new house shown in the background of
the family picture.

Fred married Ora Tucker, and they raised
four children, Earl, Mabel, Donald, and
Russel. Mabel is the only living member of
that family.

Will married Pearle Howard; they had
three daughters, Opal, Mildred, and Garnet.
Will, Pearle, and Garnet are deceased.

Clark married Elsie Madron and had a
daughter, Barbara and a son, Jim. They have
all four passed away.

Clint married Gentry Burton, and four
sons were born to them. Clint and Gentry and
Burton and Robert are deceased. John and
Larry live near Seneca.

Frank never married. He ranched in the
Seneca and Thedford area and lived to be 91.

Fern married Frank Erny and had four
sons, Dewain, Charles, Leroy, and Norman.
Dewain, Leroy, and Norman are the only
living members of this family and all three
live near Buffalo, New York.

Bert married Eva Wells, and they raised six
children, Minnie Mary Hamilton, Wayne,
Albert, Don, Bill, and Reta Teahon. Bert
passed away in 1984.

Ernest married Myra Treat and had a
daughter, Linda Schaeffer, and a son, Eu-
gene. Ernest died in 1979.

Ruby graduated from the Mullen High
School in 1927 and taught school in Seneca
and in South Dakota for 21 years. She
married George Parrish and has a daughter,
Marilyn Markus, and a son, Paul. George
passed away in March 1986.
