HICKS, CHARLES AND MARGARET (POOL)

Charles Hicks was born in Virginia, Febru-
ary 2, 1849. He grew to manhood in Virginia
and came to Nebraska and filed on a
homestead in Cherry County. For a time he
worked on the Kennyville Ranch. Charles
passed away in Mullen, October 12, 1931.

Margaret Ann Pool was born in Indepen-
dence, Virginia January 30, 1856. She spent
her early life here and in April 9101 came to
Nebraska. She and Charles were married
March 22, 1880 in Independence, Virginia.
She and Charles took a homestead. Later
they managed a restaurant business in
Mullen for several years.

Margaret joined the Methodist Church
early in life. Her life has been an inspiration
to us all. She was member of the Ladies Aid
for a good many years and was a member of
the Woman's Club. Charles and Margaret
had five children: Lillie Glass, Pearl Burnett,
Dalla McIntyre, and two had died.

Margaret had one brother Floyd W. Pool,
three sisters; Delia Pool, Mrs. Virginia Phil-
lips, and Mrs. Rose Boyer. Margaret died
June 18, 1943; she and Charles are buried in
the Cedarview Cemetery at Mullen.
