"Jake" Johnson, Barber
Jacob H. Johnson, son of Phillip and
Wilhemina Johnson, was born March 8, 1866
in Tuscerawas County, Ohio. He came to
Custer County when he was about 22 years
of age. He was married to Nellie McKee,
February 1890. To this union were born one
son and two daughters. His wife, Nellie
passed away in 1930. Jacob was preceded in
death by his son, Harold and one daughter,
Alice Hughs.
Mr. Johnson barbered for fifty years. He
had the record, secondly, of years in the First
Methodist Church of Broken Bow, Nebraska.
He also had a fifty-five year membership in
the Odd Fellows Lodge of Broken Bow.
Mr. Johnson came to live with his daugh-
ter, Mrs. Bessie Zackry of Mullen where he
made his home for 18 years. He passed away
at the Zackry home. He had three living
sisters and nieces and nephews. Mr. Johnson
was buried in the Broken Bow Cemetery.
