LARSEN, CHRISTIAN

Christian Larsen was born in Mern, Den-
mark on October 1, 1860. He came to America
at the age of 14 with his parents. They settled
in Porphes Town, Illinois. He later married
Sophia Dornquest at Tampeco, Illinois. The
Larsens had 8 children. Only two daughters
survived childhood. Early in 1880 Christian
and his wife and daughters moved to Custer
County. In the spring of 1894 they moved to
Whitman, Nebraska where Christian worked
for the Railroads for 16 years. Sophia died in
1906. Christian filed on a homestead in
Hooker County and proved up in 1911. Mame
and C.J. St Onge moved to the ranch south
of Mullen with her father. August 26, 1939
Christian died of a heart attack in his front
yard after tending to his morning chores. He
was buried at Dale Cemetery near Anselmo,
Nebraska.
