W.C. McIntyre was a resident of Mullen
since 1909. He was the son of Ward Daniel
and Oriet Mclntyre. William Clark McIntyre
was born at Albany, Nebraska near Gordon,
Nebraska on July 28, 1888. He came to
Mullen in 1909 to work as a telegraph
operator for his brother, Ward and later
attended the Boyles Business School at
Omaha, Nebraska.
William married Dalla V. Hicks at Hyan-
nis, Nebraska March 1911. Four children
were born to this union; Bernice, Robert,
William C. Jr. and Virginia Lee.
Mr. McIntyre was employed by the Sheri-
dan Wyoming Coal Co. on Acme as a
bookkeeper. He was in the hardware business
in Mullen and during the first 20 years of
work, traveled for Dutton-Laison of Has-
tings, Nebraska. As a young man, he was a
baseball catcher for teams in eastern Wyo-
ming and Western Nebraska. He was a 50
year member of the Masonic Lodge. He died
at the Pioneer Memorial Hospital on Wed-
nesday, August 15, 1973. His funeral services
were held at the United Methodist Church
and internment in the Cedarview Cemetery.
His son, Robert Ward, World War II Veteran
passed away December 30, 1956. His wife,
Dalla died December 9, at the North Platte
hospital following surgery. Funeral services
for her were held December 13, 1975, in the
United Methodist Church in Mullen, burial
in the Cedarview Cemetery. She was the
daughter of Charles P. and Margaret Ann
(Pool) Hicks. Dalla was born at Indepen-
dence, Virginia, March 5, 1891 and died at the
age of 84. Dalla was a 50 year member of
Winifred Chapter 292 Order of Eastern Star.
