MEDEARIS, ORANGE AND ANNA (LORENZEN)

Orange Medearis, was born at Worth,
Missouri April 5, 1880, son of Joseph and
Isabelle Medearis. Orange moved with his
parents at an early age to Whitman, Nebras-
ka. The family had the unique and unfortu-
nate experience during their effort at devel-
oping a ranch, to lose their entire herd of 250
cattle in a blizzard. Orange carried mail from
Sumner to Broken Bow, Nebraska for three
years, then farmed near Thedford, Nebraska
where he homesteaded in 1912. Orange, Anna
and their family moved to Hooker County in
1914 where they farmed until retiring and
moving to Mullen in 1949. Orange died
March 16, 1967.
