Richard A. Dick as his friends called him
was born in Henderson, Ky., April 29, 1905
and came to Mullen when he was fourteen
years old with his Mother, Lula Moller, sister,
Helen and brothers, William and Gene.

Richard graduated from Mullen High
School in 1923. He operated a Cafe for several
years in the 40's before going into the service.
On his return, he moved to Alliance, Nebras-
ka, and managed the American Legion Club
and he and his brother Bill operated the
Orange Tea Room in Thieles Drug Store.

On September 29, 1946, he married Maudie
Lapointe, an Alliance native, and then gained
a step-daughter, Twila.

In 1949 he joined the U.S. Postal mail
service and they moved to Council Bluffs,
Iowa. He served on the mail train from
Omaha to Cheyenne, Wyoming. Later, he
went to the Air Terminal in east Omaha until
he became Postmaster in Irvington, Nebras-
ka. Upon the closing of that Post Office he
went to the Federal building in downtown
Omaha as supervisor until he retired in 1972.
Maudie worked several years and was secre-
tary to the Cosmetic buyer at Brandeis when
retired.

Richard and Maudie enjoyed wonderful
trips with the Tangier Shrine. In 1967 and
1969 they went to Hawaii. 1970 - A Caribbean
cruise on the Hanseatic. 1971 - A three week
trip to the Scandinavian countries and
London where they celebrated their 25th
anniversary. 1975 - Mexico. 1979 - Caribbean
cruise on the Festivale. 1980 - Washington
D.C. and Orlando, Florida to visit his brother
Gene and his wife, Mildred.

Dick was active in the Shrine until health
prevented it.

October 3rd, 1986 he passed away at his
home in Omaha, Nebraska, four days after
their 40th wedding anniversary, September
29, 1986.
