Roy and Hattie Shimmin Golden Anniversary 1975
I was born April 1, 1903 on the home place
south of Mullen, Nebr., where my parents,
Robert H. and Mattie Shimmin had a
homestead. As I grew up I helped at home and
also picked corn for several people.
I married Hattie Cox August 22, 1925. She
was the youngest daughter of Joshua and
Frances (Fannie) Cox. We began our married
life on the Neal place, south of Mullen. The
first year we were married I trapped for Ira
Huffman. Our children were born while we
lived here. A daughter Mildred and a son
Richard.
We moved to Nampa, Idaho in 1937 where
we bought a farm. I also worked at the sugar
factory for several years.
Our children live in Nampa. We have 8
grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
Hattie passed away December 1978.
