Albert and Augusta Stewart moved from
Newman Grove, Nebraska and homesteaded
northwest of Mullen in Cherry County in the
early 1900s. They and two small daughters,
Elizabeth and Harriett lived there the re-
quired 5 years to own the 640 acres.

The rest of the family joined them later -
Joe, Helen and Marguerite.

The Stewarts helped establish a Postoffice,
Rita Park, named for Marguerite. She carried
the mail by horseback to Erik, another
country Postoffice for sometime.

Mr. Stewart was at one time County
Assessor and Justice of the Peace in Cherry
County.

They moved to mullen around 1916 and
shortly after to Lincoln, Nebraska where he
worked for the Lincoln News.

There they spent the rest of their lives.
They died there and are buried in Cedarview
Cemetery at Mullen.
