Daryl Glen Tompkins was born to parents

Mullen, Nebraska on 1951. Daryl
also had a twin sister, Cheryl Jean, who now
resides in Colorado Springs, Co. and an older
brother Ronald Lee, who has made his home
in Lincoln, NE. With the exception of three
years spent in Gooding, Idaho, Daryl lived
with his family on his grandfather's ranch for
a short time, then moved into Mullen.
Beginning in the second grade, Daryl attend-
ed school in the Mullen Public School
System, graduating in May of 1969. He
continued his education at Doane College in

Degree in Music. Beginning in the fall
following graduation from college, Daryl
served as a police officer and training Sgt. in
Crete, NE for a little over three years.
During the time Daryl was serving on the
police force, he suffered an illness that left
him in Bryan Memorial Hospital in Lincoln.
It was there that he met a registered nurse
that was to become his wife in shortly over
2 years. Trudi Ann (Schroeder) Tompkins
was born to Ralph and Betty (Williams)
Schroeder in Phillipsburg, KS on
1954. Trudi grew up with a sister Margo and
a younger brother Randy in Huntley, NE,
moving to Alma to begin high school in the
Alma school system. She graduated from high
school in 1972 and continued her education
at Kearney State College and Bryan Memo-
rial Nursing School in Lincoln, NE. Trudi
graduated as an R.N. and passed her state
boards in 1975 and began working at Bryan
Memorial Hospital in Lincoln.
Daryl and Trudi were joined in marriage in
an outdoor wedding on the Doane College
campus on April 23, 1977. It was the first
wedding held in the natural auditorium south
of the campus center in Doane's history.
Shortly after their marriage, while Trudi
continued to practice as an R.N. Daryl began
his work in the life insurance business with
Modern Woodmen of America. In March of
1978 Daryl went to work for State Federal
Savings and Loan (Now American Charter)
as a loan officer. In June of the same year
Daryl was transferred to Lexington, NE to a
branch office in that town. Trudi returned to
work in Kearney, NE on a full time basis after
the birth of their first son, Trevor William on
1978. Daryl returned to the life
insurance business in March of 1979 and in
April of 1982 was appointed as district
manager for Modern Woodmen of America.
During that period of time Trudi continued
to specialize and was trained as a Hemodialy-
sis Nurse and was promoted to Director of the
Dialysis Unit at Good Samaritan Hospital in
August of 1980, She is still serving in that
capacity at the writing of this family history.
In June of 1982 Daryl and his family moved
to Kearney from Lexington and currently
reside there. Daryl has his business offices at
906 E. 25th. On 1984, Daryl and
Trudi again became proud parents of Eric
Glen. Through the insurance business the
family has been able to take memorable trips
to many states and returned this summer
from a week in Nashville at the Grand Ole
Opry Hotel. Daryl and Trudi are looking
forward to a week in Spain in April of 1987.
