WOLFENDEN, LEROY AND KAY (ANDERSEN)

Warren and Eunice Wolfenden 25th Anniversary

LeRoy Wolfenden was the second child
born to Warren and Eunice Wolfenden
1940 in Mullen, Nebr. As a boy, he
practically lived outdoors, caring for cattle,
riding horses and outdoor hunting, all which
built in him a great love for what the Master
has created. LeRoy is an avid hunter and
sportsman, something which is wife, Kay and
three sons share. He attended country school
through the 8th grade at Dist. 188 in Cherry
County, Nebr. LeRoy and his oldest brother,
Robert Earl, helped their grandmother,
Lizzie Wolfenden, who was known for her
great carpenter skills, built their school
house. LeRoy graduated in May 1957. He
attended Milford Technical School at
Milford, Nebr., and later returned to the
Sandhills to help the family with the ranch
operation.

LeRoy married Kay Anderson, daughter of
the late Ernest and Verna Anderson. Kay
graduated from Mullen High School in 1960.
Upon their marriage they moved to the home
ranch 40 miles north of Mullen to begin their
married life. God blessed this marriage with
3 sons, Rick Allen, Robert LeRoy and Cyrus
Roy. Cyrus Roy was named by his great
grandmother, Lizzie Wolfenden and is the
5th Wolfenden to be named Cyrus.

LeRoy's great-grandparents, John and
Annie Kime had a two story home built on
their homestead. Their daughter Lizzie's
marriage to Cyrus Wolfenden was held in this
new home. Fifty years later Cyrus and Lizzie
celebrated their Golden Anniversary in this
same house. Warren and Eunice moved into
this home in 1957. In 1971 LeRoy and Kay
started to remodel the house and as they were
tearing out additions etc. they found notes
that were written by grandmother Lizzie. The
notes expressed her feelings about the car-
penter job she was doing at that time. They
were rolled up and put in bottles and hid
away. One of the bottles said she hoped the
founder of this note never wanted anything
in life as much as she wanted the off set on
the kitchen and she was getting it done by
doing the work herself. She dated it and put
them in the old medicine bottles. These notes
will be treasured by this family forever.

LeRoy and Kay along with their 3 sons are
proud of the heritage left to them by the
Kime and Wolfenden families.
