Family of LeRoy and Kay Wolfenden sons - Robert LeRoy, LeRoy, Kay,
Rick Allen, Cyrus Roy

Alfred Wood and wife, Elizabeth, whose
ancestors were from England, left Illinois,
moving to South Dakota with their three
sons, Cecil Vaughn, David Benjamin (Ben)
and Dean Warwick (Wick). Later, they left
South Dakota and settled in southern Cherry
County, north and east of Mullen, Nebraska.
Alfred and sons, Cecil and Ben homesteaded
north and west of Mullen in 1914. Wick was
not old enough at this time to apply.

In the fall of 1920, Alfred and Elizabeth
decided to move back to Bunker Hill, Illinois
taking their grandchildren, Mabel and Orrin
with them. This was after the death of the
children's mother. The family traveled by
train to Illinois. Cecil and Wick remained on
their homesteads.

In the year of 1926, the Grandparents and
grandchildren again returned to their home
in Cherry County, Nebraska.

Wick, Mabel and Orrin's father, married
Louise Brooks on July 15, 1933. He dissolved
partnership in 1935 with his brother, Cecil
and bought a small ranch north of Wood
Lake, Nebraska. This ranch was sold in 1947
and they then moved to Weippe, Idaho. Dean
(Wick) moved to Oregon in 1956 where Dean
suffered a heart attack and died August 27,
1961 and was buried there.

After Cecil and Wick dissolved partner-
ship, Cecil stayed a few years on the home
place. He finally sold to Big Springs and
bought a rooming house in Valentine, Neb-
raska. He died January 7, 1942 but was taken
to Bunker Hill, Illinois for burial.

Grandmother, Elizabeth Wood, died Jan-
uary 24, 1929. She was taken to Mullen for
the funeral which Rev. B.H. Murton had
charge of. She was then . accompanied by
family members to Bunker Hill, Illinois for
burial in the family plot.

Alfred C. Wood died at Valentine in the fall
of 1939 and was also taken to Bunker Hill to
be laid to rest in the family plot.
