ANDERSON, RALPH H.

Ralph H. Anderson was born September 29, 1889 at Weston, Nebraska, son of “Toby'' and Anna Anderson. He lived with his parents in Omaha, Nebraska, where he received his education and was employed by the Union Pacific Railroad as a young man in the boiler shops of the steam engine department. June 14, 1904, he was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith.

In 1904, he accompanied his family to a farm 22 miles south of North Platte, Nebras-ka to live. Later, 1912, the family moved to a ranch southwest of Mullen, Nebraska. He filed on a homestead of 240 acres in Sec. 35, Twp. 24N, Rng. 34W.

Ralph returned to Omaha for a time to study the barber trade, but did not pursue this profession. He served with the United States Army in World War I. Part of this was in France and he received several commenda-tions. He was wounded in action during this service to his country. After his discharge from the army, he returned to his ranch home at Mullen, Nebraska and took an active part in the ranching business with his parents.

Ralph remained on the ranch until Sep-tember, 1951, when he and his sister May, retired and moved to Mullen. Ralph chose to remain single his entire life. He passed away at his home in Mullen, May 9, 1972. He was buried in the family plot in North Platte, Nebraska.
