CAMPBELL, FRANCES A.

Frances A. Stevenson was born at Pinca-tonica, Illinois on May 8, 1865 and died at her home in Mullen, Nebraska July 12, 1928. June 5, 1883 at Cherokee, Iowa she was united in marriage to M.L. Campbell and to this union one child, Charles C. Campbell was born. The family moved to Westmoreland, Kansas and a short time later from there to Mullen, Nebraska, locating on what was known as the Otto Maire place. In 1890, they moved to Gothenburg, Nebraska and from there to Cripple Creek, Colorado in 1896 and it was here that her husband was killed while working in a mine. She returned to Mullen in April 1898, where she resided up to the time of her death.

Mrs. Frances A. Campbell was one of the pioneer residents of Mullen, coming here when the town was a mere frontier hamlet, and for a number of years conducted a millinery store, where she became a well-known and successful business woman. After retiring from the millinery business, Mrs. Campbell, in partnership with her son, Charles, acquired the long established and well-known Sandhills Commercial Company business and assisted in its management until failing health took her from the ranks of active workers. Frances was kind and affec-tionate in her disposition, charitable in her ways and devoted to her home and loved ones, she lived a noble life that was full of usefness to the world. Her son Charles C. Campbell had two sons, Chester and Ray.

The funeral service for Frances was con-ducted by Arch Deacon S.E. Wells and was laid to rest in the Mullen Cedarview ceme-tery.
