CHERRY COUNTY CLUB

County & Community History • Entry T92

The Cherry County Club held a meeting in July of 1928, for the purpose of organizing a Historical Club. It was thought up by Prof. Wilson, and agreed upon by all the members, to be a “worthwhile club''. The purpose of the club was to get all the available material of pioneer days from the old settlers of Cherry County. Some of the material would be gleaned through interviews with the old settlers, some could possibly be written up by the pioneers themselves. Quote “It will be stimulating work for the teachers, a pleasure to the old settlers and a saving of a great deal of historical data which would otherwise be lost. Many of the seemingly unimportant events should be chronicled. They are of a great importance to the coming generation. If it is not gotten now, in a few years much of this data will have gone out of existence.''
